Billing FAQs
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, New Narratives currently accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Aetna, and University of Chicago Student Insurance (USHIP). Since there are many different plans within each insurance company, it is recommended that you confirm with your insurance provider that we are in network before beginning treatment. You can do this by contacting the customer service number on the back of your insurance card.
How much will each session cost?
Out of pocket, the initial diagnostic session is billed at $200 and each session that follows is $175 per session. We do, however, offer a sliding scale for clients in need. If paying for services out of pocket, your provider will go over the fees during the initial consultation and will also send a Good Faith Estimate with an outline of the expected monthly costs for treatment. If you are using insurance, you will need to contact your insurance company directly to ask about their contracted rates and coverage. To do this, contact the customer service number on the back of your card. When connected to a representative, ask about your behavioral health benefits including a possible deductible or copayment associated with individual psychotherapy sessions.
What if I am not in network, but my insurance offers out of network benefits?
If you are not in network, you will need to pay for treatment out of pocket. At the end of each month, you will be sent a receipt of services called a Superbill that documents the service received and the amount paid. You can submit this Superbill to your insurance company and they will reimburse you directly if they offer out of network coverage.
How do I make payments?
All clients are required to have a credit card on file. This card is charged automatically after sessions or once the insurance claims have been processed. All charges and billing documents can be viewed in your confidential client portal.
